CR is an Italian lock brand that is now part of the DOM Security group, under the name DOM CR Serrature. With a CR lock, both the lock body and the key system matter: whether it works with the lock’s own key or with a cylinder. We only deal with mechanical locks.

We identify the key type and the mechanism before suggesting anything, because the way to open or repair the lock depends on them. When opening a door we cannot guarantee the lock will be left undamaged; with a fault, we check whether the problem lies in the mechanism, the key or the strike plate.

Which part to identify on a door with CR
With a CR lock it helps to tell apart the lock body, which sits inside the door leaf, from the system the key goes into, which may be a keyhole or a cylinder. The escutcheon is the outer plate that protects that entry point, and the strike plate is where the bolts engage in the frame. Not every door with a CR part has the rest of its hardware from the same brand.

Why does the mechanism of a CR lock need to be identified before any work?
Because the way to open or repair it depends on whether the lock uses its own key or a cylinder and on how the mechanism is built. Getting this wrong can damage the lock or make the job more expensive.
Can you work on any CR model?
We cannot guarantee it. We repair and open mechanical CR locks, but each model is confirmed from its reference and depending on the parts available. We do not deal with electronic systems.
Which photos help identify my CR hardware?
One of the lock faceplate on the door edge, another of the whole door from outside and another of the keyhole or cylinder. Do not send close-up photos of the key cuts.
How is the quote for CR confirmed?
From the photos we give you the price before we start, with VAT on top. If the price changes once we check the mechanism, we explain why and do not carry on without your agreement.
