How to use the brand pages

The brand pages help you recognise a part from its markings and prepare your enquiry with the right details. Each one shows what work has been confirmed for that brand, where there is any. Neither the pages nor the logos imply an official service or any link with the manufacturers.

Lock information

What information can help identify a part

These details help us know which part we are dealing with before talking about solutions.

  • The visible brand and where it appears: on the face of the cylinder, on the faceplate on the door edge, on the escutcheon or on the key.
  • The type of part: cylinder, lock, additional bolt, escutcheon or another part of the door.
  • The door it is fitted to: wooden, metal, armoured or high-security steel, and whether it belongs to a home, business premises or a communal area.
  • The symptom you notice: the key is stiff, the lock doesn’t engage, the part moves or is damaged.
  • The parts or keys you still have, without sending detailed photos of the keys or their key registration card.

Lock information

Before choosing a service

The name is usually engraved on the face of the cylinder, on the faceplate of the lock visible on the door edge, or on the escutcheon. Send photos of those areas. The brand gives us a guide, but it is not enough to know the model or compatibility: that is confirmed with the reference number and the measurements.

Lock information

A brand alone does not confirm compatibility

The same brand makes parts with different sizes, systems and uses, and the part fitted may be combined with components from other manufacturers. Whether a part fits depends on the door, the rest of the assembly and the condition it is in. That is why the brand gives us a guide, but the decision is made after checking the part in place.

Services you can ask about

We only work on doors: door opening, cylinders, locks, escutcheons and security upgrades. We don’t work on safes, electronic locks, lockers or letterboxes, even if the brand makes them.

How we confirm models and work

Each page only lists the work confirmed for that brand. Specific models are checked against the reference number of your hardware before we give you the price.

Frequently asked questions

Questions about brands and compatibility

Does a brand page mean you work on all its models?

No. Each page shows what work we confirm for the brand, and the specific model is checked against its reference number before we give you the price.

What should I do if I can’t identify the brand?

Send photos of the face of the cylinder, the edge of the door when open and the escutcheon, if there is one; the brand is usually visible there. If it doesn’t appear, it is identified when the door is checked. Don’t send detailed photos of your keys.

Do all brands allow the cylinder to be replaced or an escutcheon to be fitted?

No. It depends on the door, the lock and whether the parts are compatible. Also, we only work on doors: not on safes, lockers or electronic locks.

Does appearing in the index mean an official service for the brand?

No. The pages are there to help identify hardware and do not certify any official link, authorised distribution or certification with the manufacturers.

Where should I look for the brand if the part is painted or worn?

Look at the edge of the door when open, the inside face if it is a rim lock, and the head of the key. If you still can’t read it, the part can be identified when the door is checked.

Why might two parts from the same brand not be interchangeable?

Because the measurements, the way they are fixed and the key system can differ. Also, the door and the rest of the assembly determine what fits in each case.

What is looked at when checking a part from a particular brand?

How it works, what condition it is in, how it works with the rest of the door and whether the fault really lies in it or somewhere else, such as the frame or the strike plate.

When does it make sense to repair a branded part rather than replace it?

When the fault is localised and the part can be repaired without the rest of the assembly being worn. What suits your case is decided after the check.

Does replacing a part mean keeping the same brand?

Not necessarily. What matters is that the new part fits the door and works with the rest of the assembly; the brand is one more factor when weighing up the options.
