What to look for before assessing a job on ISEO hardware
- If the key turns with the door open but sticks with the door closed, the rubbing may be at the strike plate rather than in the cylinder.
- If any of the side or top bolts does not come out fully, it is worth checking how the lock drives them.
- If the handle goes down but the latch does not retract, an internal part may be worn.
- If the door leaf rubs the frame at the top or bottom, the door may have dropped.
- If the cylinder has play and moves when you insert the key, its fixing may be loose.

What to avoid when trying to fix a ISEO fault
When an ISEO lock starts to fail, some common reactions make the problem worse. It is best to avoid them until the door has been checked.
- Do not force the key when you feel resistance, as you may bend it or damage the cylinder.
- Do not tamper with the electronics if the door has any, as they are not part of what we deal with and may stop working.
- Do not take off the handle or the lock faceplate to see what is going on, because on a high-security steel door putting it back together properly is not easy.
- Avoid slamming a fire door that does not close properly, as it punishes the latch and the frame.
- Do not use just any spray without knowing whether it is suitable for locks, as some leave residue.
