What we do with LINCE hardware

Bolt, lock or cylinder

LINCE is the brand of La Industrial Cerrajera, S.A., a Spanish manufacturer founded in 1932 in Elorrio (Bizkaia). It makes padlocks, locks and bolts, including electronic models, security cylinders and access control. We only deal with mechanical LINCE door locks, bolts and cylinders: no padlocks or electronics.

Checking your case and our limits

We identify which LINCE component is fitted and what condition it is in: a bolt is an additional lock that reinforces the door, and the lock is the main locking device. Checking a faulty bolt is not the same as adding a reinforcing one.

Options before you accept the work

We suggest repairing the bolt or the lock, replacing its cylinder or fitting a LINCE reinforcing bolt if the door and frame allow it, with the price given before we start.

Details that help identify a LINCE case

With LINCE we repair locks and bolts and fit reinforcing bolts. Knowing which part concerns you and what state the door is in helps us steer your enquiry from the start.

  • Whether the fault is in the main lock or in an added bolt.
  • Whether you want to fix something that is not working or reinforce a door that works fine.
  • Whether the bolt is operated with a key from outside, a knob from inside or both.
  • Whether the frame is timber, metal or masonry, and what condition it looks to be in.
  • Whether the door opens onto the street, a patio or a communal staircase.

Identifying your LINCE model

Details to identify the hardware

The LINCE marking and the reference of the bolt, lock or cylinder, whether it is surface-mounted or mortice, and photos of the door from outside and inside. Do not send detailed photos of your keys.

Compatibility and availability

With the reference, we check the sizes, fixings and matching cylinder in LINCE’s documentation before giving you the price.

What to look for before assessing a job on LINCE hardware

  • You have to push the door for the bolt to go into its keep.
  • The bolt does not throw fully or gets stuck halfway.
  • The screws on the bolt or its keep have worked loose and the part moves.
  • The main lock locks, but the door feels loose or has play against the frame.
  • The frame shows cracks or splinters near the strike plate or the bolt keep.

What to avoid when trying to fix a LINCE fault

Some quick fixes leave the door worse off than before. Best to avoid them until the LINCE lock or bolt has been checked.

  • Do not screw a reinforcing bolt onto a damaged frame, as the fixing will not withstand a shove.
  • Do not enlarge the bolt keep so the bolt goes in without rubbing, as it loses its hold.
  • Do not hit the bolt to free it, as you may bend it or damage the mechanism.
  • Avoid leaving the bolt unlocked because it is stiff, as the door loses the reinforcement it had.
  • Do not take the main lock apart to check the bolt, as they are separate parts and you may knock both out of adjustment.

What to confirm in the LINCE quote

Repairing, replacing the cylinder or adding a bolt are priced differently depending on the model and the door. All prices are plus VAT, depend on when the service takes place and carry a supplement outside Torrevieja. We give you the price before we start.

Frequently asked questions

Questions about LINCE

What is the difference between checking a LINCE bolt and a LINCE lock?

The lock is the door’s main locking device; the bolt is an additional one. Checking a bolt means checking its mechanism, its cylinder and its fixing; checking the lock involves the main locking device and its strike plate.

Can you work on any LINCE model?

No. We repair LINCE locks and bolts, fit reinforcing bolts and replace cylinders, always mechanical. We do not deal with padlocks or electronic models, and each one is confirmed by its reference.

Which photos help identify my LINCE hardware?

One of the LINCE component with the marking, one of the door from inside and one from outside. Do not send detailed photos of your keys.

How is the quote for LINCE confirmed?

With the photos we give you the price for the repair, cylinder replacement or reinforcement before we start, plus VAT. If anything changes once we check the door, we do not carry on without your agreement.

Does this page show that we are an official LINCE service?

No. This page offers guidance on LINCE products, but it does not show any official link, authorised distribution or certification with the manufacturer.

Can a LINCE reinforcing bolt be fitted to a door with a timber frame?

It depends on the thickness and condition of the frame, because the bolt keep has to be firmly fixed. We check it at the door and, if the frame will not take it, we tell you before fitting anything.

Why did my LINCE bolt stop locking properly after the door was painted?

Paint can thicken the edge of the door leaf or cover part of the keep, and the bolt starts to rub. It usually shows up when checking the fit between the bolt and the frame.
