Door security upgrade in Torrevieja: what we do and when
A door’s security depends on the whole assembly, not on a single part: the door leaf and frame, the lock and its locking points, the cylinder, the escutcheon protecting it, the strike plate and the hinges. We check these parts in homes, shops and communal buildings and suggest improvements that are compatible with your door. No upgrade makes a door impregnable; the aim is that no single point is clearly weaker than the rest.
Checking the existing locking
Send photos of the whole door from the outside, of the cylinder and escutcheon, and of the door edge with the door open, where the lock and locking points can be seen. Tell us the type of door if you know it: wooden, metal, armoured or high-security steel.

Condition of the whole assembly
If the door, frame or lock need adjusting before new components are fitted, the price changes and we tell you beforehand.

The door’s dimensions, the type of lock and the current cylinder limit which components will fit; among the compatible options, each has a different price.
Materials and installation
The price varies depending on the components chosen and how they are fitted. We only mention features that appear in the manufacturer’s documentation.
How we work
How a security upgrade works, step by step
1. Tell us about your situation
Call or send a WhatsApp message with photos of the door, the cylinder, the escutcheon and the door edge, and tell us what you want to improve.
2. Go over the options and conditions
We explain the options compatible with your door, what each one offers and its price before we start, with VAT on top.
3. Agree the work and check it together
Once the price has been accepted, we arrange the installation. If something comes up during fitting that changes the price, we explain it and don’t carry on without your agreement. When we finish, we check with you that the door works properly, and payment is made then.
What to check after the upgrade
- That the door locks with the key without being pushed and that all the locking points engage properly.
- That the new components are fitted firmly, with no play and no screws accessible from the outside.
- That it opens normally from the inside, so you can get out without difficulty.
- That you are told what has been changed, what stays the same and what other improvements could be left for later, if any.
Everyday use after the job
- Deadlock the door fully every time you go out, because closing it on the latch alone wastes the door’s locking points.
- Don’t leave the spare key hidden near the door or anywhere it can be seen from outside.
- Check from time to time that the door still has no play when closed and that the new parts haven’t worked loose.
- If you see marks again or notice anything different about the door, photograph it and tell us before touching it.

Guide to preparing your security upgrade enquiry
Before asking for a security upgrade
To suggest proportionate improvements we need to know the door and its current condition.
- Which door you want to improve: the main entrance, a secondary door, a storeroom door or the door to business premises.
- How many locking points it has and whether there is an additional bolt.
- Whether the cylinder is covered by an escutcheon or left exposed.
- The condition of the frame and hinges: whether the door has dropped, rubs or has play when closed.
- Whether there has been an attempted break-in: photograph the marks before removing or touching the damaged parts.
Signs of a weak point worth describing
They are not a diagnosis, but they help decide where to start.
- When locked, the door has play in relation to the frame.
- The cylinder sticks out from the door with no escutcheon covering it.
- The escutcheon is loose, turns or has screws visible from the outside.
- The frame is cracked next to the strike plate or the strike plate moves.
- The hinges have play or the door has sagged under its own weight.
When it’s best to stop trying
After an attempted break-in it is natural to want to test whether the door holds by forcing the handle, pushing the door leaf or tightening screws yourself. Those tests can loosen what is still holding and wipe out marks that are worth seeing. If the door still locks, use it as little as possible and tell us what happened before touching anything else.
Situations worth explaining when you get in touch
Not every security enquiry comes from a problem. These situations help us suggest proportionate improvements if you describe them in your own words.
- A secondary door, such as one to a patio or into the garage, is left closed on the latch only: tell us where that door leads and how often it is used.

Is replacing the cylinder enough?
It depends on the door. If the cylinder is the weak point, replacing it may be enough; if the escutcheon doesn’t protect it or the lock and frame are loose, those are worth checking too.
Can a door be improved without replacing it?
Yes, when the door can take compatible components: cylinder, escutcheon, strike plate or other reinforcements. If the door or the frame can’t take them, we tell you.
What features can be certified?
Only those that appear in the manufacturer’s documentation for each component, such as a rating under a standard when the model has one. We don’t attribute features without documentation or promise absolute protection.
How are the quote options compared?
We give you the price of each option before we start, with VAT on top, so you can compare them and choose.
What is worth looking at before choosing an upgrade?
Start with how the door closes today: whether you have to push it, whether it has play when closed or whether the cylinder is exposed. A door that doesn’t fit properly limits what any new component can add, so sometimes the first step is to correct that fit before adding parts.
Where do you start if there are several weak points?
Priority usually goes to whatever is exposed from the outside and affects the whole locking system, such as an unprotected cylinder or a strike plate that moves. After that, the parts that depend on the door leaf and the frame are assessed. The exact order depends on your door; it is explained to you along with the options so you can decide what to do first.
Can a security upgrade make it harder to get out of the house in a hurry?
That is taken into account when suggesting the options. Tell us who lives in the home and how people usually leave, so the upgrade doesn’t make opening from the inside more difficult.
Can security be improved in stages?
Yes. You can start with the point that concerns you most and leave other improvements for later. We explain what changes with each step so you can decide the order.
Is there any point reinforcing the door if the frame is in poor condition?
It adds little if the frame doesn’t hold properly. That is why we look at the condition of the frame first and, if it is damaged, we tell you before suggesting components for the door leaf.
