MCM reference and lock configuration
MCM is a brand of locks and cylinders that now appears as DOM-MCM within DOM Security, which offers locksmith and access control solutions in Spain. Although MCM and DOM belong to the same group, each reference has its own sizes and configuration: that is why MCM has its own page and DOM has another. We only deal with mechanical MCM locks and cylinders.

We check the MCM reference and how the lock is configured: whether it is a mortice or rim lock, how many locking points it has and whether the fault lies in the lock, the cylinder or the strike plate.
Options before you accept the work
We suggest repairing the lock, replacing the cylinder or replacing the lock with an MCM one or another that fits the existing cut-out, with the price given before we start. We do not assume a spare part exists for every model.

With an MCM lock or cylinder, the most useful thing to know is how the lock is fitted and where you notice the fault. Look at these details before you contact us by phone or WhatsApp.
- Whether the lock is set into the door edge or screwed to the inside of the door leaf.
- Whether one or several bolts come out of the door edge when you turn the key.
- Whether the key goes in fine but is hard to turn, or turns freely without moving the bolt.
- Whether the rubbing only happens with the door closed against the frame.
- Which letters or numbers you can read stamped on the metal faceplate on the door edge.

What can affect the compatibility of an MCM part
Whether an MCM part fits does not depend only on the name stamped on it. What matters is the distance between the cylinder centre and the door edge, the thickness of the door leaf, the number of locking points and how the whole assembly meets the strike plate. A worn lock or a dropped door leaf also changes what is best to do.

If you are thinking of reinforcing a door with an MCM lock, it is worth first knowing where it gives way. Check whether the cylinder sticks out a lot on the outside, whether the strike plate is firmly anchored to the frame and whether the door leaf has play when you push it closed. How many times a day it is opened and who uses it also matter, because that guides the proposal, although no single part makes a door invulnerable.

Questions about MCM
Is an MCM reference interchangeable with any DOM product?
No. MCM and DOM being part of the same group does not make their parts interchangeable. The reference and sizes are checked; if another part fits, we explain it to you first.
Can you work on any MCM model?
That cannot be guaranteed. We repair and replace MCM locks and replace their cylinders, but each model is confirmed by its reference and the parts available. We do not deal with access control.
Which photos help identify my MCM hardware?

How is the quote for MCM confirmed?
With the photos and the reference we give you the price before we start, plus VAT. If the price changes once we check the lock, we do not carry on without your agreement.

Why does my MCM key turn but the door does not open?
The internal mechanism may not be driving the bolt, or the bolt may be jammed in the strike plate. It needs checking at the door to find out whether the fault is in the cylinder or the lock.
Should I replace just the MCM cylinder or the whole lock?
It depends on where the wear is. If the lock works fine and the problem is with the key or turning it, sometimes the cylinder is enough; if the bolts are failing, we assess the lock.
