Which part to identify on a door with ARCU
The lock is the metal case set into the door leaf, whose faceplate you see on the door edge. The cylinder is where the key goes in and is replaced separately; a lever lock has no cylinder and the key works the mechanism directly. The escutcheon protects the keyhole on the outside, and the strike plate on the frame receives the bolts. An ARCU marking on one of these parts does not tell you what brand the others are.

If my ARCU lock is a lever lock, can a cylinder be fitted?
It cannot be taken for granted. Switching from a lever lock to a cylinder means changing the lock mechanism, and that depends on the recess in the door and what fits in it. We check this during the assessment and tell you what real options there are.
How do I know whether the fault is in the ARCU lock or the cylinder?
If the key turns normally but the bolts do not come out, it usually points to the lock; if the key goes in badly or will not turn, it usually points to the cylinder. This is only a guide: checking the door is what confirms it.
