What we do with EZCURRA hardware

Lock and cylinder assembly

EZCURRA is the brand of Ezcurra-Esko, S.A., a Spanish manufacturer of mechanical security locks based in Escoriaza (Gipuzkoa). Its range includes cylinder-operated and lever-key locks, multipoint locks and locks for high-security steel doors, high-security cylinders, additional bolts and accessories such as escutcheons. On a door, the lock and cylinder work as one assembly, but each is best checked separately.

Assessing your case and its limits

Before changing anything, we check which part is causing the problem: the cylinder, the lock mechanism or the strike plate. If the lock works properly, replacing the cylinder may be enough.

Options before you accept the job

We suggest replacing just the cylinder, repairing the lock or replacing it with an EZCURRA or other lock that fits the existing cut-out, with the price of each option before we start. We never assume compatibility based on the brand alone.

How to describe an EZCURRA part

On a door with EZCURRA hardware, two parts are involved: the lock in the door edge and the cylinder the key goes into. Telling us which one is causing trouble saves guesswork.

  • Check whether the EZCURRA name appears on the faceplate in the door edge, on the cylinder or on both.
  • Tell us whether the key is flat with teeth or a long lever key with a bit, as that makes a big difference to the part.
  • Tell us whether turning the key throws one bolt or several along the door edge.
  • Let us know if the key goes in but won’t turn, spins freely or is hard to pull out.
  • Mention whether the fault only happens with the door closed or also when it is open.

Identifying your EZCURRA model

Details to identify the hardware

The EZCURRA marking and the reference on the lock faceplate, whether it works with a cylinder or a lever key, whether it has several locking points, and a photo of the cylinder. Please don’t send detailed photos of your keys.

Compatibility and availability

Using the reference and our own measurements, we check EZCURRA’s documentation for the cylinder or lock that fits before giving you a price.

Why it matters to inspect a door with EZCURRA parts

An EZCURRA cylinder that sticks may be perfectly sound and be suffering because of a worn lock or a door that has dropped. The right solution comes from seeing the whole assembly fitted and the actual condition of each part, not just the brand.

Inspecting, repairing or replacing an EZCURRA part

  • Inspecting means pinning down which part is failing: the cylinder, the internal mechanism or where the lock meets the frame.
  • Repairing means adjusting or replacing whatever is damaged while keeping the EZCURRA lock in place.
  • Replacing the cylinder is another option when the lock works well and the problem lies in the cylinder.
  • Replacing the lock is considered if the mechanism cannot reasonably be repaired, and only if there is a part that fits.

What to confirm in your EZCURRA quote

Replacing the cylinder, repairing the mechanism and replacing the lock are priced differently; with multipoint locks or high-security steel doors, the type of door also plays a part. VAT is added on top, the price depends on when the service takes place and a supplement applies outside Torrevieja. We give you the price before we start.

Frequently asked questions

Questions about EZCURRA

Can the EZCURRA cylinder be assessed without replacing the whole lock?

Yes, when the fault or the reason for the change lies in the cylinder and the lock works properly. If the mechanism is also failing, or the lock works with a lever key instead of a cylinder, the lock itself has to be assessed.

Can you work on any EZCURRA model?

We can’t guarantee it. We replace cylinders and repair and replace EZCURRA locks, but each model is confirmed by its reference and depending on the parts available.

Which photos help identify my EZCURRA hardware?

One of the lock faceplate in the edge of the open door, one of the cylinder or keyhole from outside and one of the whole door. Please don’t send detailed photos of your keys.

How is the quote for EZCURRA confirmed?

From the photos we give you the price of each option before we start, with VAT on top. If inspecting the lock reveals a different problem, we explain it and don’t carry on without your agreement.

Does this page certify an official EZCURRA service?

No. This page offers guidance on EZCURRA locks, but it does not certify any official link, authorised distribution or certification with the manufacturer.

Why does the key in my EZCURRA lock turn easily with the door open but struggle when it is closed?

It usually means the bolts are rubbing against the frame rather than an internal fault. We need to see the door closed to know whether an adjustment will do or there is something more.

Should I replace the EZCURRA cylinder if a copy of the key has been lost?

That is your decision. Replacing the cylinder makes the old keys useless and doesn’t require touching the lock if it works properly.
