Yale is a brand of the ASSA ABLOY group with mechanical cylinders and locks, smart locks with an app and keypad, safes, alarms and cameras. In Spain it has taken over from AZBE, although that doesn’t make their parts equivalent. We only work on mechanical Yale locks and cylinders: we don’t set up apps, keypads, connections or smart locks.
Assessing the job and its limits
We separate mechanical problems from setup problems: if the key won’t turn, the bolt doesn’t engage or the cylinder is worn, we inspect it; if the app, the connection or a code fails, that isn’t our job. We never ask for passwords or access codes.

We suggest repairing the lock, replacing the cylinder or replacing the lock with a Yale lock or one compatible with the lock recess, and give you the price before we start.

Fault or security upgrade with Yale
With Yale it is worth telling a mechanical fault apart from a wish to upgrade, and both from a setup problem, which we don’t deal with.
- It is a fault when the key doesn’t throw the bolt or the cylinder is so worn that it is hard to open.
- So is a mechanical lock that leaves the door not fully locked.
- It is an upgrade need when everything works but you want to swap the cylinder for one with more protection.
- If what fails is an app or a code, it isn’t a mechanical fault and isn’t part of our work.

- Take the key out and put it back in several times and check that it comes out without jerking.
- Make sure the cylinder sits firmly and doesn’t turn inside the lock.
- Lock from outside and from inside to see that the bolt goes fully in.
- If your hardware has an electronic part, ask what was touched during the visit and what was left as it was.
